Mission
Viejo Nadadores Masters wins bid to host the 2005 Masters Nationals
Championships in August 2005. Getting the support from Nadadores
Swim Board president, Catherine Page, and Head Coach Bill Rose,
Masters Coach, Mark Moore presented the team’s bid at the 2003 USMS
National Convention in San Diego in September 2003. The response
was well received; in fact, it was a unanimous vote by the House
of Delegates to approve the bid. Plans to host the Nationals in
the summer of 2005 are under way. Coach Mark, also acting as meet
director will plan on attending both Short Course and Long Course
2004 Nationals that will be held in Indianapolis and Savannah.
2005
meet participation could be as high as 1500 swimmers and as many
as 300 volunteers are needed for this 5 day event. It’s been a long
time since the Long Course Championships have been in Southern California.
The last time Mission Viejo held a Masters National Championships
was in 1976 and 1979. Both were short course events. There are over
45,000 adults who are registered with the United States Masters
Association.
