Coach
Mark has been Head Coach of the Nadadores Masters Program since 1996.
Coach Mark prides himself on developing team excellence in a positive
and confidence building environment. He believes each swimmer has
an opportunity to use the sport as a lifelong activity to be successful
in life, while having fun and swimming fast.
Physical, mental, emotional
and social traits are all aspects of his philosophy. His goals include
developing team growth, unity and individual excellence.
Mark's coaching career started in 1978. He is a member of several
aquatics sports associations and an active member of USMS.
Coach Mark also has a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters
degree in Sport Psychology and Psychophysiology, from CSULA.
Coach Mark is the SPMA Vice Chair and Chair of the U.S. Masters Swimming Championship Committee.

2004
March - Coach Mark received the 2003 SPMA Coach of the Year
Award.
May - Coach Mark selected to be on the coaching staff at the
2004 FINA Masters World Games in Riccione, Italy.
June - Coach Mark Nominated for the 2004 USMS Coach of the
year
September - Coach Mark receives Dorothy Donnely service award
for his involvement in the SPMA and USMS
September - Coach Mark is certified with ASCA as level 4 Coach.
November - Coach Mark selected to attend the USMS High Altitude
Camp at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado, in February 2005.
2005
March - Coach Mark awarded SPMA Coach of the year for the 2nd
year in the row
August - Coach Mark hosts USMS LCM National Championships -
hailed to be the best Nationals in 20 years.
Seprember - Coach Mark wins the coveted USMS (national) Coach
of the Year award.
October - Coach Mark's coaching philosophy featured in the
Swimming World Magazine.
October - Coach Mark selected to chair the USMS Championship
Committee.
2006
July - Coach Mark's article on freestyle featured as the cover
story in Swimmer Magazine.
August
- Coach Mark is certified with ASCA as Masters level 5 Coach.
Level 5 is composed
of the top 2-5% of coaches in the USA.
2007
January - Coach Mark accepted the position of Masters Editor
for SWIM and will oversee all Masters content to be published in
Swimming World Magazine. He will also pen a regular Lane Leader
feature that will profile different Masters swimmers.
July - Coach Mark selected to be on the coaching staff as the Head Coach at the 2008 FINA Masters World Championships in Peth, Australia.
2008
January - Coach Mark elected to the SPMA Exective Committee as Vice Chairman. He duties include acting as Chairman of Meet Operations.
December - Coach Mark awarded the Jim Marcus Service Award.
The purpose of this award is to the person who does the most for Masters Swimming. Coach Mark consistently demonstrated outstanding contributions to Masters Swimming, such as support and leadership, recruitment of members, program development, and promotion of Masters Swimming at the club, association and national level.
2009
September - Mission Viejo Nadadores is awarded the U.S. Masters Swimming 2009 Club of the Year at the USAS convention held in Chicago.
The award is based upon the following:
Recipients of The USMS Club of the Year Award USMS clubs are constantly trying to develop programs that draw people in, support their swimmers, and set the standard for other clubs to follow. Initiated in 2006, this annual award publicly recognizes the efforts of the great clubs that embody these attributes.
Based upon the three core objectives: Serve, Educate, and Build Membership, each applicant should describe how the nominated club has met and is currently meeting the criteria. |
