Tip - Freestyle Mechanics
When using proper
technique, your body will rotate 45 degrees along the longitudinal axis, and
your middle finger will enter the water first.
Your neck should be held
in the same position as if you were standing erect on dry land, with the water
line in the middle of the top of your head.
The
correct stroke pattern must be accompanied with equal body rotation to avoid
shoulder injuries.
Your
body should feel as if you were rotating on a barbecue skewer that goes through
the top, center of the head and extends the length of the spine to between the
ankles.
Using a pull buy or breathing every third stroke can help you
practice body rotation.
